Week 10: Eat Sleep Render Repeat

This week I spent most days at uni till midnight getting all the shots ready to render with Jaymes and Michael. We rendered at a resolution of 720 because we thought we might not have enough time to render everything in 1080.
We had trouble with the ambient occlusion and matte render layers (the ambient occlusion material override didn't work for some of the textures on Jordan and the lampshade).
We tried a few different ways to get around this, but in the end we figured it was faster to make a separate .ma file for the ambient occlusion layer, kill all the textures then apply the ambient occlusion shader. It rendered faster, but we needed more PC's.
Same with the matte layer; the skydome light was bleeding into the render layer, so we made a separate .ma file, killed all the lights and textures, applied red, green and blue surface shaders to objects we wanted to matte and they rendered quickly.
We had trouble with the motion blur pass as well; while we were able to set up a separate motion blur pass built into the .exr file, the motion blur was also baked into the beauty pass. It was quite intense for some shots and didn't look good. We went around this the difficult way and rendered a separate beauty layer without motion blur enable in the render settings.
Naturally, it was challenging keeping up with all the rendering data.
Then on Friday, Phil wanted us to render everything again in 1080p.
I ain't even mad bro.
