This week I continued testing different ways of creating a dynamic-looking 3D dog for the boss battle scene in Black Dog. I found some pretty cool methods in Mash, in Maya.
I've been trying to create a convulsing magnetic fluid tektite sort of look, maybe with wisps of smokey evaporation effects.
Or something like the shadow monster in this scene:
I want to explore merging these effects together, whether it be in post or merge nodes in Maya.
On my way to achieving the desired effect, I came across a lot of other cool effects:

I'll be spending more time looking into particle emitters, fluid effects and texture deformation next week.
During the lectures this week, we looked into the camera tracking node in NukeX; creating point clouds, recreating virtual cameras, compositing 2D planes & 3D objects into 3D space to match the movement etc. We also looked into roto-scoping a little, which can be very laborious at times.
